OK Goodnight
Modern progressive metal from Boston, MA, United States of America
A progressive metal band blending intricate compositions, jazz-infused time changes, and crushing metal riffs, Ok Goodnight has been making waves with their dynamic and theatrical approach to storytelling through music. Formed by Casey Lee Williams (vocals), Martín de Lima (piano/guitar), Augusto Bussio (drums/guitar), and Peter de Reyna (bass) while studying at Berklee College of Music, the Boston-based quartet has evolved into a powerhouse of technical musicianship and emotional depth. Notably, Williams is widely known for her work as the featured vocalist—and now composer—on the soundtracks of animated series RWBY, further cementing her reputation as a versatile and accomplished artist. Additionally, de Reyna is also a member of the symphonic metal band Seven Spires.
Their latest album, The Fox and the Bird (2023), is a stunning concept record that narrates a mythic journey through a drought-stricken land, following two friends on a perilous quest to bring back the rain. A blend of delicate acoustic passages, soaring melodies, and blistering metal intensity, the album has been praised for its cinematic quality, progressive ambition, and fearless genre-bending
"Ok Goodnight is the sound of tomorrow; a complex range of compositions that scratch the depths of your brain." – Prog Censor
"Their whimsical blend of art rock, math rock, and prog finds them in the company of 70s-minded contemporaries with a modern alternative edge like Kingcrow or Riverside." – Angry Metal Guy
Since their debut album Limbo (2019) and the follow-up Under the Veil EP (2020), Ok Goodnight has continued to push the boundaries of modern progressive music, drawing comparisons to Dream Theater, The Mars Volta, and Leprous, while maintaining a signature sound that is uniquely their own. Their live performances have captivated audiences, from their first sold-out tour across the US East Coast and Midwest to their prestigious appearance at Night of the Prog 2024, where they shared the stage with icons like Riverside, Steve Hackett, Big Big Train, and The Flower Kings.
Catch them live on Friday, August 8!
