LUX TERMINUS
Keyboard-driven progressive metal from Cleveland, OH, United States of America
Known for their cinematic, keyboard-driven progressive metal, Lux Terminus shatters conventions by forgoing electric guitars and instead crafting a richly textured and emotionally charged soundscape with pianos, synths, and orchestral arrangements. With their highly anticipated new album Cinder dropping in April, ProgStorm attendees will be among the first to experience the band’s stunningly immersive live performance.
The trio Lux Terminus is composed of Vikram Shankar (piano, keyboards), Matthew Kerschner (drum and percussion), and Brian Craft (bass). Their critically acclaimed debut album, The Courage to Be (2018), set them apart as one of the most original instrumental prog acts of the past decade. A concept album at its core, The Courage to Be tells a deeply emotional story without words, weaving intricate piano-led melodies into a tapestry of progressive rock, fusion, and cinematic grandeur.
"A treat for fans of thinky piano-led prog." – PROG Magazine
"Easily one of the best instrumental albums I’ve ever heard... an absolute must-hear for any serious prog fan." – The Prog Mind
At the helm of Lux Terminus is none other than Vikram Shankar, a virtuoso keyboardist whose resume speaks for itself. Beyond his work with Lux Terminus, Vikram is the official touring keyboardist for Pain of Salvation, a member of the prog metal band Redemption, and has also been invited to tour internationally with legendary bands such as Within Temptation. On top of that, he is one half of Silent Skies, his cinematic collaboration with Evergrey’s Tom S. Englund, with whom he composes music for major video game titles, including Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II.
Lux Terminus, who has also shared the stage with Bent Knee, Thank You Scientist, and Imminent Sonic Destruction among others, promises a spectacular performance that will captivate fans of orchestral prog-metal fusion.
Catch them live on Friday, August 8!
